Who is Canvas Gallery?
Canvas Gallery is a Toronto-based art gallery established in 2003, representing Canadian contemporary artists. For over 20 years, we’ve built lasting relationships with artists, collectors, interior designers, and corporate clients, helping people find original art that feels personal and meaningful.
Where is Canvas Gallery located?
Our gallery is located in Toronto, Canada. We work with clients locally, across Canada, and internationally, and we regularly assist buyers both in person as well as remotely through virtual viewings.
Browsing & Choosing Artwork
How do I find artwork that’s right for my space?
You can browse our online catalogue by artist, medium, size, or subject matter. If you’d like personalized guidance, our team is happy to recommend artwork based on your space, budget, and aesthetic preferences. Simply contact us to get started, or drop by anytime to browse in person.
Can I see how artwork will look in my space before buying?
Yes. We offer an on‑approval / try‑before‑you‑buy service for select works, allowing you to view artwork in your home or office before committing to a purchase. Availability depends on location—please contact us for details.
Are the artworks on your website always available?
We do our best to keep our online catalogue up to date, but availability can change. We recommend contacting us to confirm current availability.
Purchasing Artwork
How do I purchase artwork from Canvas Gallery?
Artwork can be purchased directly through our website or by contacting the gallery. Our team is happy to walk you through the process, answer questions, and assist with payment, delivery, or approvals.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept major credit cards and other payment methods by arrangement. Please contact us if you have specific payment requirements.
Are prices listed in Canadian dollars?
Yes. All prices are listed in Canadian dollars.
Are taxes included in the price?
Applicable taxes are added at checkout for Canadian purchases. Tax requirements may vary depending on your location.
Approvals & Returns
What does “on approval” mean?
Approvals allow you to view artwork in your space for a 48 hour period before finalizing your purchase. This service is ideal for collectors, designers, and businesses who want to ensure the artwork is the right fit.
Is there a fee for trying artwork approval?
There is no fee for taking artwork to try on approval for our GTA clients, with the exception of oversized works that require a hired delivery service. Please contact us for more information.
What is your return policy?
In fairness to our artists, we do not offer refunds after payment. However, we provide a 48-hour trial period, allowing you to experience the artwork in your space and ensure it’s the perfect fit before finalizing your purchase.
Shipping & Installation
Do you ship artwork across Canada and internationally?
Yes. We ship artwork across Canada, to the United States, and internationally. Shipping costs and timelines depend on destination, size, and framing requirements. Please contact us for a custom quote.
How long does shipping take?
Shipping timelines vary by location and artwork type. We will provide an estimated delivery timeframe once your purchase is confirmed.
Is artwork insured during shipping?
Yes. Artwork is insured while in transit to ensure peace of mind.
Do you offer installation services?
We work with professional, local installers and are happy to obtain quotes.
Framing & Presentation
Are artworks framed?
Most paintings on canvas or panel are unframed, wired, and ready to hang. Works on paper are typically unframed unless otherwise noted.
Can you help with framing?
Yes. If framing is required, let us know your timeline and budget, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Rentals for Film & Commercial Use
Do you rent artwork for film, television, or commercial projects?
Yes. Canvas Gallery offers rentals of original Canadian artwork for film, television, photography, and commercial use. All works are cleared for use, and we can sign release paperwork on behalf of our artists. Please review our Rentals page for more information.
Artists & Submissions
Do you accept artist submissions?
We review artist submissions periodically. Please visit our Submissions Guidelines or contact the gallery for more information.
Artwork Commissions
Can I commission an artist?
Commissions may be available with select artists. Contact us to discuss your project and timeline.
Can I contact the artist directly?
Both the artists and gallery prefer that all requests go through the gallery. We have established relationships with our artists and it is our utmost goal to keep both artist and client happy, as shown through our 20 years of excellent customer service. We hope that our clients appreciate allowing the gallery to do its job, so that the artist’s can focus on what they are best at; making art. If you have a specific request please let us know - we may have access to just what you are after.
Corporate & Trade Clients
Do you work with interior designers and corporate clients?
Yes. We regularly work with interior designers, architects, and corporate clients on residential, hospitality, and office projects, offering curated selections and trade support. What are your gallery hours?
We are open 7 days a week. Our gallery hours are 10am-5pm Monday to Saturday, 12pm-5pm Sunday, with holiday hours updated accordingly.
