FAQs

How do I find the available art on the website?

This site offers several ways to browse for art. You can select a particular artist from the view all artists or artists a-z sections of the website to view all of the available work by that artist in one spot, as well as past work, and artist biographies.

Use the collections area of the website to view artworks grouped in various categories such as style, subject matter, medium and size.

You can also use the search bar to type in an artist’s name, artwork title, medium, or size (in inches, no spaces: ie. 36x60). You can also type in subject matter keywords such as ‘winter’, ‘flowers’, ‘water’, etc.

Artwork sizes are always listed in inches.

Where do I find pricing?

Clicking the image of the artwork will open all of the details for the work including the price. If you find an item is not clickable, it may be unavailable. Please get in touch with us to confirm.

How do I see what’s new?

All of the new work that we receive is added to our new work feed as it arrives. You can also enter your email address on any artist’s page to be sent the new work by that particular artist directly to your inbox when it arrives.  Our instagram feed @canvasgalleryto features most of the newest work, and the ‘collections’ area of our website will show the most recent work at the top of each category.

Can I try before I buy?

Yes! We allow all works to go out ‘on approval’ for 48 hours so you can get a feel for them in your space before purchasing. You can also try pieces digitally, by sending us images of your space with some basic wall measurements. We then insert the artworks of your choice into the photo of your room and send it back to you for review. Email your images.

How can I purchase artwork? Do you offer refunds?

Artwork can be purchased in person with debit/credit cash or cheque, over the phone by credit card, or online through our website. We also accept payment via email transfer.

While we do not offer refunds if you change your mind once payment is received (in fairness to our artists), we do offer a 48 hour ‘on approval’ trial period for the artwork so you can see it at home and be sure you’re happy with the piece before purchase.

Do you offer shipping? How does it work?

We ship across Canada and the US and internationally. Shipping rates and packaging methods vary depending on the size, weight and medium and destination of the artwork. For US customers, original Canadian artwork purchases and shipments are tax and duty free. For Canadian customers the tax of the destination province is charged.

If you’d like a shipping quote, please provide us with your complete shipping address and the piece(s) of interest so we can determine the safest and most cost-effective option for you.

For online purchases, we will contact you after your purchase is complete with your custom shipping rate and a link to process the shipping payment separately.

Do you offer delivery/framing/installation?

We offer assistance in selecting and facilitate framing by our preferred framing shops, though it is not done in house. *COVID-19 note: there have been delays in framing due to supply issues so currently framing timelines may be a little lengthier than usual.

We work with several delivery/installation providers and are happy to pass along our recommendations. The gallery is able to delivery larger works locally, however we do not provide installation ourselves.

Can I commission a custom piece?

We do facilitate commissioned works from most of the artists we represent. Generally these are based on a past work in feel and composition, in your desired scale.  For more information about commissioning an artist please get in touch with the gallery. We will assist in determining the request, communicating the request to the artist, establishing the price point and timeframe, and take a deposit before the artist will get started, with the balance due on receipt of the work.  Commission deposits are not refundable.

Can I contact the artist directly?

Both the artists and gallery prefer that all requests go through the gallery. We have established relationships with our artists and it is our utmost goal to keep both artist and client happy, as shown through our 20 years of excellent customer service. We hope that our clients appreciate allowing the gallery to do its job, so that the artist’s can focus on what they are best at; making art. If you have a specific request please let us know - we may have access to just what you are after.
