Ivano Stocco

Ivano Stocco is a Canadian painter whose work is inspired by the architecture, people, and colours of the everyday urban environment. He explores the poetic potential of ordinary and “sub-optimal” conditions, often capturing middle grounds where nature and human culture intersect. His paintings invite the viewer to experience the familiar in unfamiliar, nuanced ways.

Perhaps unusually for a full-time artist, Ivano holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science (University of Guelph), an M.A. in History (York University), and a B.Ed. in Senior/Intermediate Education (University of Toronto). He has studied painting and drawing in Spain, where his en plein air works won multiple national and regional awards.

Raised in Guelph, Ontario, Ivano now lives in Los Angeles with his spouse and two daughters, while maintaining a studio in Guelph. His work is collected internationally, with pieces in public and private collections across Australia, Britain, Canada, Italy, Spain, and the United States.
