Kyle Sorensen
Kyle Sorensen is a Canadian artist celebrated for his geometrically abstract landscapes. Drawing inspiration from the Cubists and the principles of hard-edge painting, Sorensen transforms the natural world into fractured, vivid compositions that offer a modern perspective on traditional landscape painting. Influenced by the vast Northern Ontario landscapes and the waters of Georgian Bay, he distills three-dimensional landforms into simplified two-dimensional planes, emphasizing bold colour, sharp transitions, and precise geometric structure.
Since his first solo exhibition in 2013, Sorensen’s work has been featured in numerous galleries and art venues across Canada. That same year, he was nominated for the BMO 1st Art Award, marking an early recognition of his distinctive approach to landscape abstraction.
