Heather Millar
Heather Millar is a Canadian painter based in Prince Edward Island, known for her vintage-inspired, nostalgic paintings that capture moments in time, childhood memories, family snapshots, portraiture, landscapes, and wildlife. Her work reflects a contemporary pop-art aesthetic, emphasizing the image as the central focus while evoking memory.
"I love the idea of having something tangible to represent that moment caught in time. So often our memories obscure what was our reality at the time, so bringing back those images in the form of a paintingon canvas lets the viewer treasure what was possibly once lost.”
Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Millar earned her BFA from Alberta College of Art and Design (ACAD) in Calgary, 1998, initially studying glassblowing before returning to painting. Self-taught in painting, she has developed a unique, evocative style inspired by everyday life and personal experiences.
Millar’s paintings are featured in private collections worldwide, public collections across Canada, and on television sets including Suits and HGTV. She is represented by Canvas Gallery (Toronto, ON), Adele Campbell Fine Art Gallery (Whistler, BC), and Jones Gallery (Saint John, NB).
Her work explores nostalgia, memory, portraiture, and pop art, through an emotionally resonant contemporary lens, inviting viewers to treasure the precious moments of life.
