Annette Kraft
van Ermel
Annette
Kraft van Ermel grew up in the country just outside of Belle River,
Ontario and moved to Toronto in 1987 to pursue formal studies in Fine
Art. Since obtaining her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at York University
in 1992, she has mounted sixteen successful solo shows.
Inspired by emotion, colour and the simple things in life, some of Annette’s
themes have included transition, the beauty in detail, magic, and the
state of being. Annette works mainly with oil and beeswax and uses colour
to evoke feeling in the viewer. Annette also works in stained glass,
photography and large-scale murals. Her work has appeared on magazine
and book covers, in theatre productions, and various music videos such
as David Bowie’s ‘Dead Man Walking.’ Annette’s
art appears in private collections across Canada, in New York City,
England and the Netherlands.
