Silvana Bruni

Silvana Bruni is a Toronto based mixed media artist. She received her BFA (Hons) degree from York University in 1999 and has been developing and exhibiting her work extensively since then. Her work is held in numerous private collections in Canada, the USA and Europe, and can also be found on the cover of indie-rock and electronic music record covers. Used and battered drumskins (she’s a drummer as well) and Lucite glass are Bruni’s canvases – the unique surfaces where her autobiographical, fervent, visual narratives emerge. Her aesthetic is expressive and minimalist all at once, levitating on Eastern, Zen-Buddhist influences. In her work, personal question marks are transformed into something life-affirming.
